Scope of Work:
This project involved a full rebuild of the front entry staircase and landing to enhance both the curb appeal and structural integrity of the home’s main access point. The original steps were removed and replaced with a new custom-built pressure-treated wood staircase designed for longevity, safety, and visual warmth.

Structure & Materials:

• Framing and Treads: Constructed using premium-grade pressure-treated lumber, known for its durability and resistance to rot, insects, and moisture — ideal for Ottawa’s variable climate.
• Risers and Stringers: Precision-cut and anchored to ensure even rise and run for safe, comfortable footing.
• Handrails & Balusters: Fabricated from matching pressure-treated wood with smooth sanded finishes, providing a cohesive look and a comfortable grip.
• Decking Boards (Landing): Installed using 5/4” pressure-treated deck boards, secured with weather-resistant exterior screws to prevent warping or movement over time.

Lighting & Finishing:

• Integrated LED step lighting and post-cap lights were added to improve night-time safety and create a warm, inviting ambiance.
• The lighting layout emphasizes each tread while softly illuminating the railings and pathway, blending functionality with modern design aesthetics.
• All exposed wood surfaces were cleaned and sealed with a clear weatherproof stain to enhance the natural grain and protect against UV and moisture damage.

Final Touches:
The new staircase seamlessly complements the home’s brick façade, with symmetrical railing posts and a recessed lighting setup that accentuates the architectural features of the entrance. Decorative string lights and a front wreath further tie the modern craftsmanship with a cozy, welcoming charm.
